Mystery of the WaterBox: Solved! ...and Nurse Hippo

Hey everybody!  I'm sorry that I have not been blogging lately.  I have been very busy with a super important job.  My mom went to see Dr. PullHerTeefsOut and it didn't go so well.  She has been really quiet and I have been nursings her back to healths by snuggling close to keep her warm and happy.  Mom said I am a super duper nurse!

Now...BIG NEWS!!!  I finally knows what the WaterBox is for!!  It's for this thing called swimmings!!  A few weekends ago, it was really hot outside, so Mom and Dad put funny underwears on (they called it their "swimsuits"??) and went INTO the WaterBox!  They seemed to be having fun with their heads bobbing around.  Then mom and dad gots out of the WaterBox and told me it was my turn to put my "swimsuit" on. Next thing I knew, a bright orange swimsuit was being wrapped around my handsome hippo body!

Then mom showed me that she had my favorite liver treats and my favorite ball!!  We sat beside the WaterBox and mom fed me my liver treats.  Before I knew it, my delicate Hippo feets were standings on a step IN the WaterBox!!!  It was kind of refreshings actually!  Then my dad sloooowwwwly lifted me into the WaterBox and my legs just started kicking automatically!  I was a little scareds at first but my dad was holding me nice and tight.  The water felt really good on my hot hippo body.
Then I saw it!!  Mom had my favorite ball!!  She put in right in front of my nose...so I had no choice but to run after it!   Well, um, swims after it.  Lookits me swimmings!!

After all that swimmings I gots very tireds.  I went into my fort and laid down in my favorite shady spot.  Swimmings is hard work but boy it is fun!!

I've got to get back to my nursings duty, but stay tuned for more WaterBox fun!

Mish Mash Week

When I sat down to do my blog this week, I couldn't decides what to write.  Mom suggested I do a "mish mash" of things...so I said "what's a mish mash Mom?"  She said just tell everyone a little bit about everything that happened this week!  What a great idea!  Here goes!

First, I learned a new way to sit with my Dad.  Moms says it turns me into a shar pei (?), but as soon as I jumps off my sofa, I turns back into a HouseHippo again...like magics!  I loves sitting with my Dad....
Next, there was more activity around the water box.  Dad spends a lot of time walking around and around it with that giant stick in his hands.  I supervise Dad and also keep an eye out for the other Hippo.  But every time I see him he still just keeps looking back at me???
I'm also an aspiring artist!  I surprised mom and dad with a sculpture I mades on my deck!  I calls it "poop art"!  Mom and dad said it was very creative but they want me to makes my art on the lawn from now on.  Notice the splash of color I added from my favorite toy...I think it's Eugenious!!!

On the weekend, I was told it was "Mother's Day".  Dad said I should give lots of kisses to mom to show her that I loves her??  Weirds, I do that every day!  On the same day, my new grammy came out to spends some time with me.  I was also told to give her lots of kisses because it was a special day?  Weirds, I give her lots of kisses every time she visits me!

But before my grammy came over, my mom got out the present that dad told me I gave to mom for mother's day??  Weirds, I don't remembers doing that?  Anyway, the present was a noisy stirring machine that makes cake!!  I was sooo excited!!  But, it turned out the cake had 'chocolate' in it.  I didn't know what that was but it sounded yummy!  Then Mom said that chocolate was not safe for my tummy and that I could not have cake.  Bummers.  But then, when mom and dad weren't looking, my grammy let me licks the icings off her plate!!!  She said, "shhh Hippo, there is no chocolate in the icing".  It was delicious!  I loves my grammy and my grammy loves me!
I hope there is something called Hippo's Day so I can have my own cake, without chocolate of course!

Boys Weekend!

This past weekend, I dids something I never dids before!  Me and Dad had a boys weekend!!  I was a little bummed when I heard Mom was going away for the weekend, but when Dad told me what he had planned, I forgots all about Mom!

First, we relaxed and drank some beers (okay, only Dad drank the beers).  Then we watched the hockey.  Dad said that the boys have to go after the puck really fast just like I chase my ball really fast.  Then I asked Dad if I could have a puck and play the hockey??  He said, "Maybe next winter, but it's summer now Hippo, we are going to teach you how to swim!  Hmm, I wonders what that is?

The next day some men came to "open" the water box??  They brought a weird coughing machine with them.  I started by watching them from my deck.
They pulled and pulled on the cord of the machine, but it just kept coughing.  I was really interested in all the activity so I went down to help.  I brought the cord that Mom and Dad attach to my collar with me.  I wrapped it all around the feets of the water box men.  Then Dad said he knew I was only trying to help but maybe it would be best if I watched from inside.  So that's what I did!

After a while, it gots pretty boring, so I decided to take a short siesta....
Then Dad came in and wokes me up and said that the water box men were gone.  We wents outside and I rans over to the water box and carefully looked over the edge...and you won't believe what I saw!!!  Another House Hippo!!  I wasn't quite sure what to think but I couldn't help but notice that he was a very handsome House Hippo.  I hope he is friendly and wants to play with me this summer!

We gots up the next day and Dad said we were going to make a FORT!!  I was sooo excited! I helped Dad takes all the fort parts out of the boxes and then searched inside each box with my snout to make sure they were empty.  I also helped hold the ladder and watched Dad close when he was up on top.  Lookits our new fort!

It tooks all day, but when we were done I got to snuggle with my Dad in our fort.  I was really happy...

Then I heard a sound from inside my house.  I looked through the window and there was Mom!

I ran in the house, and gave her kisses all over her face!  Boys weekend was really fun, but it sure was nice to have mom home!

Mr. Postman

Yesterday we were gettings ready to go on our regular walk to the post office. then mom said this time would be a little different. she said since most of the mail is for the Hippo, that the Hippo should carry his own mail!! then she showed me the Hippo mail bag...

mom put the Hippo mail bag on me and i made lots of wiggles cause it felt funny on my Hippo body.  then i gaves mom my super duper sad face and decided to immediately play dead...

mom said "that won't work on me little Hippo, we are going to the post office anyway!". so i had a drink to make sure that i could make the trip and off we went...

luckily i was able to moves almost at the speed of hippo.  mom said she liked it because it slowed me down enough so that we were almost loose leash walking???

anyway, here is me at my post office before mom put the mails in the Hippo mail bag...

and here is me after mom put the mails in the Hippo mail bag...there was a little more hippo mail than expected!!

Oh yeah, and did i mention it was minus 4 degrees with flurries fallings on me!  sometimes it's just better to take the Hippo-mobile!!

Unsolved Mystery: The Water Box

I'm not sure if you noticed, but there is a big water box in my yard. it just sits there. mom and dad do the yard work and gardenings around it, but nothing else....until this weekend.

dad got out a big stick and i thought we were going to play with it. i was going to bite the thingy on the end of it, but then it disappeared into the water box!
When it came back out, there were stinky old wet leaves on it and dad dumped them right on my feets!!

i watched dad do this overs and overs and the stinky old leaves just kept on coming up out of the water box. i patrolled the area around the water box hoping i could get a bite of the stick, but dad made it go ins and outs so fast!
All of this patrolling was very tirings so I rested a while on the grass...
Then dad went inside and came back out with a treat for me! Yay, liver!  dad said no liver hippo, just a nice cold ice cube???  i decided to try it so dad put it in my mouth. i tried to carry it around but it got really COLD so I spit it out on my deck. It was crunchy and fun, but I prefer liver, yum yum!

After the crunchy ice cube frozed my teefs I laid on my deck and tried to warm up.

It just wasn't warm enough for me so i asked mom if i could go to my favorite sunny spot.  she said of course Hippo, you can keep an eye on us from there. So after dad got all the leaves out of the water box he put the stick away and that was it!!

So for the meantime, the water box continues to be a mystery....

Gardenings Day!

Today was a beautiful day for something called gardenings!

Early this morning, mom said, "come on Hippo, let's get to work"! First we checked on the early springs flowers and gave them good sniffs.

Then it was time to cleans up all the old dead stuffs. I said, "mom, you do that, and i'll sniffs around back here under the big trees".

Then i came back out and looked at something mom called a vine. Soon enough i got caughts all up in the vine and mom had to help me out.

So then i watered the grass in a few different spots. This makes the lawn nice and yellow.

Then i just watched mom for a while, but i was getting a little booored...

So i decided to watch out for the orange cat that visits us sometimes....but no sign of him today.

I was getting a bit too much sun, so mom said i could relax in the shade for a bit...

Then it was time to get back to work, so i decided i better fertilize the plants...right on top of them is usually best...

Then i decided to rest again, all that pushing is hard work!!

I told mom i was pretty much done for the day. She said i could go relax on my deck if i wanted to. So i did and i fell asleeps in the sun...

Mom wokes me up and said that i could go on the nice chair instead of the hard deck. I jumped up on the chair right away and plunked myself down. This gardenings stuff is hard work for a hippo!

Happy Easter!

Today i wokes up and Mom said "Happy Easter Hippo"! So i said "mom, what's Easter"? She said she wanted to show me something first. so we went to my sofa, i jumped up on the back, looked out my window and saw THIS!!!

What, SNOW!?! Me and Easter were definitely not getting off on the right paw. So i put my hat on and went outside to relieve my hippo bladder.

When i came back inside, mom told me something very special happens on Easter. An Easter treat hunt! So i thought, hmmm, maybe i should rethink my position on Easter. Lookits me findings some of my Easter treats...

It was so much fun, and it went ons and ons and ons!  After i founds all the treats, i had to rests up, because i'm hoping tomorrow will be Easter again...
